Call for Volunteers

Do you love all things that go bump in the night?!

We are looking for a few good ghouls to join us in creating a fun event for our community. If you love decorating for Halloween, please consider signing up below! All ages welcome!

Volunteer Positions

Our theme this year is “Summoning & Conjuring”
We will have new sets and scenes this year, plus a maze that will need populating. Many of these sets we build ourselves. We also design and create the props. As always, we will need ghosts, vampires, & witches to haunt the grounds.

Construction & Crafting
Do you prefer behind the scenes? Do you love paper mache? Come make spider eggs with us!

Set Up &/or Tear Down
Installation is just as fun as scaring! We had a blast last year installing the giant spider tunnel and creating the toxic, evil garden.

On-Site Event Weekend
There are so many fun jobs over the weekend, from taking tickets, handing out candy bags, and being a scarer. To ensure visitor safety, we need helpers directing traffic.

Potential Scarer Costumes
Scarecrows, spider’s meal, Human Farmer, undead bride, Gravedigger & more. We will try to keep clothing to period clothes of the 1800s to early 1900s era but understand that is not always possible. We are looking for historical references with nothing too contemporary.

The Macaulay cemetery is steeped with history and we want to highlight its history while being mindful and respectful of the location. Macaulay has a historical cemetery on location and it is important that we take care of historical buildings and respect the cemetery and honour its inhabitants. We will be building out the cemetery again this year and will activate that area rather than the actual one.

Like last year, this will be a family event, with a general rating of PG13. We will also have the “scaredy cat flags” for those who do not want to be scared at all, and a “chicken run” that bypasses the maze. Like last year, we will have a split path. With Covid regulations lifted, we will take the families into the house for their tour and the extra scary route for the brave will go along the garden, pass three apple trees (“the orchard”) and through a spider tunnel. We would be thrilled if you would consider contributing to this year’s event and helping us create a terrifying corn maze in front of Macaulay house!
